Kim Walker and Jesus Culture

Kim Walker has a great voice, for those who know Jesus Culture I want to share with you their new EP 'My Passion' released in June 2010. But for those who haven't heard the female rock vocals singing gospel then enjoy this one;

'How He Loves Us' - Jesus Culture

'My Passion' isn't as catchy as their other songs but the lyrics are heartfelt.

Buble does Bieber

I think Michael Buble has a great sense of humour. He makes jazz accessible and enjoyable for the country music listener... the ones that have never experienced jazz get introduced to jazz then grow a love for it. Those who love jazz already think he is a sellout, ......well not everyone thinks that.

I have a great appreciation for Mr. Buble as his music makes me happy. It makes me smile and dance in my kitchen. This isn't my favourite single of his but the film clip is worth the talking about.

Enjoy!

When a prince sings to you....

Okay so talk about being different from yesterday's post!! BUT don't change channel right now as the journey of 'new music' every day of the year means you have to allow yourself to listen to what you normally wouldn't. So I am challenging YOU to listen to this one even if you THINK you will hate it.

Josh Groban to me is a prince straight out of a Disney movie.... his voice has such beautiful manly strength. His amazing version of 'You Raise Me Up' still gives me shivers...

'You raise me up' - Josh Groban
And his one from his album 'Awake' in 2006 that was very awesome is;

'Don't give up' - Josh Groban
And for the ones that know Josh Groban's - here is his new one;

The Jezabels

So have a listen my pick for today is The Jezabels. I love hearing good female singers of rock bands. I love The Jezabels sound and this is a song off their new album, 'Dark Storm' released early October 2010. There is not much to say for me on this one as this is a new song and new band for me to listen to - have a comment below if you have any info on them!

The only exception....

So what has happened to punk.... in many many bios that I have read of this group these guys are regarded as punk. I think if the originators of punk listened to Paramore they would all be very surprised and maybe roll in their graves or beds.... as these really are a heavy pop band. They are the popular music of today - great sound and if you haven't heard them before this song is a great introduction to them but please - they are rock or pop punk.... no mistake, definitely not punk.

Brooke is Back!

With the release of 'What to Do With Daylight' in November of 2003, I really couldn't believe that such a voice could exist. It's like butter on a hot knife... I have great memories of Brooke's songs as times in my life. Each of her albums I have fully embraced, not as I find myself doing recently, which is only buy one or two songs of artists that I like. Next came 'Albertine' in December of 2006 and now four years later.... why it took her so long!!!! We have 'Flags' just released on the 8th October 2010.

Have a listen to 'Something In the Water' - it contains many things I have spoken about over recent blogs... hand claps for one! It reminds me of Mumford and Sons crossed with, well, Brooke.

'Something In The Water' - Brooke Fraser

So I'm back! yes... back into it - I think the thing that you have to remember is a commitment is not giving up.... you may have a break (to do uni exams) but it's not in the pausing its in the stopping that you fail. But no fail here.... back into 365 of new music.

You love her or you hate her.

I have always loved Kasey Chambers, but have found in speaking with others you either love her voice or can't stand it. I love it and especially after seeing several interviews with her and seeing how she is just a beautiful person. I recently asked a friend of mine if she liked Lily Allen's songs and she replied that she couldn't stand her or her songs. I think Lily has a cute way of describing things in her songs but my friend was right, she doesn't have great character at all.
So do you in turn love a persons voice if they have a great character? Unfortunately that's not always the situation. But have a listen to Kasey's latest song 'Little Bird' and hopefully I can persuade you.
